Mujeres directivas, espacio de poder y relaciones de género

2003

This study has two main aims, both of which are related to gender segregation in the labour market and to the "glass ceiling phenomen on". The first is to establish why women with high educational qualifications and management capabilities tend not to reach the top of the organisational pyramid. The second is to investigate whether traditional management models, that is, masculine models, are able to respond effectively to the challenges of the current labour situation. To answer these two questions we will study the obstacles that women encounter in their attempts to build professional careers, and will also analyse gender diversity and the transformational management style. Relazioni di genere e forme di dominio simbolico. Il caso della professione dell'assistente sociale

2019

The article highlights how the cultural models currently prevalent in some professional contexts in Italy - such as that of social workers - are still influenced by "male domination" (Bourdieu 1998). It develops a gender segregation that reproduces inequalities and asymmetries also in professional contexts traditionally female and imposes professional models based on "gender neutrality", which for the most part disregard relational and communicative skills fundamental in the care professions.

“GENDER NEUTRALITY” E “GENDER SEGREGATION” IN UNA PROFESSIONE TRADIZIONALMENTE FEMMINILE

2016

Gender segregation in the employment of higher education graduates

2014

This article examines the employment and placement in the working life of Finnish higher education graduates (i.e. graduates from universities and polytechnics), focusing on gender equality. It reports a study on gender segregation in higher education and working life, considered in relation to Nordic gender equality policies. The data were gathered via a questionnaire administered to graduates in business and administration (n = 1067) and in technology (n = 1087), three years after their graduation. The results showed that men were able to secure permanent and full-time employment more often than women, and men achieved better correspondence between their degree and their employment. Howev…

Korkeakoulutuksen eriytyvät työelämätulokset

2018
